This Indian tea recipe blends black tea with warm spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom, for a flavorful brew that will warm you up from the inside out. Add a hint of black pepper for a little kick, and sweeten it up with some honey. Top it with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder, and enjoy a cozy and flavorful treat.
Ingredients
2 cups water
1 cup milk
3 black tea bags
1 cinnamon stick
1 inch ginger, peeled and sliced
3 cardamom pods
3 cloves
1/8 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp honey
Whipped cream and cinnamon powder for topping (optional)
Instructions
In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil with the cinnamon stick, ginger, cardamom pods, cloves, and black pepper.
Reduce heat and simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes, until fragrant.
Add the black tea bags and simmer for another 3-5 minutes, until the tea is steeped.
Remove from heat and strain the hot masala chai into another pot.
Add the milk and honey and heat over medium-low heat until steaming.
Pour the hot masala chai into cups.
Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder, if desired.
