Ingredients
1 cup chicory root
3 cups water
1/2 cup milk (optional)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
Combine the chicory root and water in a large saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
Strain the chicory root out of the liquid using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
Add the milk (if using), brown sugar, and cinnamon to the chicory coffee.
Heat the mixture over medium-low heat until hot, stirring occasionally.
